Sleeping Giant Writers Festival 2010

Welcome to the Sleeping Giant Writers Festival 2010

The largest literary festival in Northern Ontario, held in the shadow of Thunder Bay's Sleeping Giant, the Sleeping Giant Writers Festival brings premier Canadian authors to the city for a weekend of workshops, readings, and interaction with festival attendees.

This year the festival will take place on August 27th, 28th and 29th, 2010, at the Fort William Historical Park and Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel & Suites.

Historical Fiction with Jeanette Lynes is FULL!

The limit has been reached for Jeanette Lynes' Historical Fiction workshop. If you had tried to register for it after it was filled, we will contact you for alternative workshop choices. Other limited workshops are filling up, so register now.

David Carpenter Submission Deadlines Extended

For those still sitting in front of a blank page, we've extended the deadline for submissions to David Carpenter's Personal Essay and Short Story workshops. Send them in to be critiqued by August 5, and if you can't make the deadline you can still bring them with you to the workshop. Spaces are still available but will run out fast, so register now!

Early Bird Registration Rates Extended

Since we've had to change our lineup a bit, we're extending the Early Bird registration rates until July 31, 2010. Register now!

Presenter and Workshop Change

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Ian Brown and Johanna Schneller will not be able to attend this year's festival. Replacements have been found in Douglas Gibson and Terry Fallis, who will bring fresh insight into getting your work published.

Registrations Now Open!

Registrations for 2010 will now be accepted. Download the form here.

If registering for a workshop with limited space, mail your form in as quickly as possible to ensure your place.
